Board game On Mars is played over several rounds. When in orbit, you can take blueprints, buy and develop technologies, and take supplies from the Warehouse. When on the surface of the planet, you can construct buildings with your bots, upgrade these buildings using blueprints, lead scientists and acquire new contracts, and explore the planet's surface with your rover. In the Shuttle Phase, players may travel between the colony and the Space Station in orbit. To win the game, players must significantly contribute to the development of the first colony on Mars.

1. Kick Down the DoorDraw one card from the Door deck and turn it face up. If it's a monster, you must fight it. If it's a curse, apply it. If you draw any other card, put it in your hand. 2. Fight the MonsterCompare your combat strength (your level plus any bonuses or penalties) to the monster's combat strength. If yours is greater, you win! Don't forget to ask for help if you need it! 3. Grab the TreasureWhen you defeat the monster, draw the number of treasures listed on the bottom of the monster's card. Players rotate drawing a sent (or “inbox”) card while the rest of the group competes to play the funniest “reply” card. Once everyone has played their chosen reply card, the rotating judge awards a point to the funniest one. The player with the most points at the end of the round wins.
