The LF1110, 1.25" Polarizing Filter, is the best all-purpose lunar and planetary filter. Cuts glare and increase contrast on the moon and planets. In addition to polarizing the light, the Lumicon Polarizing Filter reduce its intensity by a factor of about 3 times. Maybe double-stacked with Lumicon color filters for use on bright planets. Fine planetary detail is almost always enhanced with the use of color filters. Since different planets exhibit different colors on their surfaces, it only makes sense that if a filter restricts a neutral color and transmits a feature color, the contrast will be improved and more detail will be seen. Observers often ask which filter should be used for which planet, and for this question, there are no firm answers. For one thing, the colors of the details on some planets are continually changing. Also, everyone's eye response is slightly different, we're talking about very subtle detail, and the best results have to be achieved by trial and error. And since the filters can be stacked by threading them together, there are a lot of combinations to try. Antares filters are available singly and inset in the most popular hues for both 1.25" barrels.The Lumicon Lunar & Planetary Filter Set, LF5045, is an excellent "starter-kit," a set of four (4) of Lumicon's most popular 1.25" lunar and planetary filters: the LF1025, #15 Yellow-Orange; the  LF1060, #56 Green; the LF1070, #80A, Blue; and the LF1085, Neutral Density 25.

Lumicon Polarizing Filters are manufactured from optically flat Hoya polarized glass. They are the best for cutting all glare and increases contrast on bright celestial objects such as the moon at full illumination and can be double-stacked with other Lumicon filters for use on bright planets. The Lumicon Comet filter, A narrow band-pass filter system (25nm), isolates the 501nm OIII LINE and both Cyanogen LINEs RK 511nm and 514nm. The high contrast gain OF the filters reveals the delicate ionized tail OF gaseous comets, allowing you ton lake their full extent. The Comet filter thus helps you tons better distinguish gaseous comets from dusty comets which normally show little contrast gain.  

The Lumicon Comet Filter, a narrow bandpass system (25nm), isolates the 501nm OIII line and both Cyanogen lines at 511nm and 514nm. The high contrast gain of the filter reveals the delicate ionized tail of gaseous comets, allowing you to see their full extent. The Comet Filter also helps you to better distinguish gaseous comets from dusty comets which normally show little contrast gain. Howard Brewington, a famed comet discoverer, says: "I discovered Comet Aarseth-Brewington, 1989a1, using the Lumicon Comet Filter. The filter doubled the contrast, making the comet very easy to spot." Why make comet-hunting harder than it needs to be?

The ULTIMATE nebula filter. The original Lumicon Ultra High Contrast Filter is unbeatable for revealing nebulosity. This achievement in filter performance is attributed to exclusively designed coatings that isolate the two doubly ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm) and the H-beta line (486nm) emitted by planetary and most emission nebulae. POLARIZING FILTER 1.25” Designed to reduce the amount of light entering your eyepiece. Omegon 1.25" Skylum filter - the easy way to discover more on Mars and Jupiter Would you like more detail and contrast when observing the Moon and planets? And that the object should still look natural? - then the Omegon Skylum filter is the 'star' in your eyepiece. The Skylum filter is universal and is suitable for many astronomical objects. It turns the night sky background slightly darker and highlights blue and red colours. It is useful for observing the crescent phases of the Moon. It prevents blooming when observing bright planets. These filters each blocks out different colors, thereby allowing for the watcher to see the objects in more details and contrast. Compatible with all telescopes and useful for astrophotography. FILTERS: #21 Orange - The orange filter blocks blue and green wavelengths, thus enhancing details in Saturn's and Jupiter's cloud belts. On Mars, it sharpens boundaries between orange and greenish areas. #25 Red -The red filter blocks blue and green light nearly in total, which means you get a very strong contrast, for instance, between bluish toned structures and the brighter details on Jupiter's and Saturn's clouded surface. On Jupiter and Saturn, contrast is enhanced on the bluish ammonia cloud belts.#56 Light green - The light green filter is ideal for observing the ice caps on Mars and the yellowish sandstorms on the Martian surface. It also improves the contrast of reddish and bluish structures in Jupiter's atmosphere.#47 Violet - The violet filter totally blocks red, yellow and green light, which is useful when observing the polar regions on Mars. With larger telescopes (>12"), it also allows distinguishing some structures in Venus' atmosphere.

The 1.25" moon filter, consisting of flat steamed glass, is simply screwed into the eyepiece thread. It reduces the brightness of the moon and thus enhances the contrast in the observation. This filter is mainly necessary during the major moon phases since the subjective glare of the moon then is strongest and can quickly become unpleasant.However, the filter doesn't only offer advantages during lunar observation, but it also allows for high contrast observations of planets. It amplifies the surface details that make observation particularly interesting. The filter is most strong in the red/blue range. This high quality moon filter is very similar to the Celestron Moon Filter and it has a similar dark green colour. The clear aperture is nearly 22mm. Highly recommended for fast telescopes with f/6 and faster (less then 6) or in refractors as it helps to eliminate the colour aberration of the refractor telescope...

With the introduction of the 68° Series we are pleased to make two important improvements in eyepiece manufacture, the first being 15 layer Enhanced Multi-layer Deposition (EMD™) coatings on all glass-to-air surfaces to gain maximum contrast and waterproofing the eyepiece with the use of Argon gas purging instead of standard Nitrogen gas.
